Kitsap County Jail Roster

The Kitsap County Jail Roster in Washington State is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. KitsapCourt.us helps find public information about current and recently booked inmates. Additional data can be obtained through the official Kitsap County Sheriff's Office website, in person at the jail, or by calling the main line. Searching the roster allows you to confirm an individual's custody status, view charges, and registration date. The roster is maintained by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division, and the data is posted on the online Web Jail Viewer portal and updated regularly throughout the day.

Search Current Inmates in Kitsap Jail

To find a person in custody at the Kitsap County Jail, use one of three methods.

Online Search

  1. Open Web Jail Viewer — the official Sheriff's Office portal for viewing the inmate list.
  2. On the main page, select the search option. The system allows you to view the full list or search by last name or booking number.
  3. Enter the individual's full legal last name. If you know the first name, add it to refine the results.
  4. View the inmate's card: it lists charges, registration date and time, and the agency that made the arrest.

In addition to the full roster, the Sheriff's Office publishes a separate list of individuals booked in the last 72 hours. This is convenient if you are only interested in recent arrests.

To search for court information related to a case, use KitsapCourt.us or the Washington State Courts case search portal.

Information about juvenile offenders is not displayed in the public roster. To start a search, you will need at least the individual's full legal last name; a booking number speeds up the process if known.

Find Kitsap Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person undergoes the booking process at the jail. During this process, the following are recorded:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • List of charges
  • Name of the arresting agency
  • Basic identification details of the detainee

The fastest way to view this information is through the Web Jail Viewer. The portal displays information about each person currently in custody, including charges and booking date.

If you need a copy of the official report or additional documents not displayed on the portal, submit a public records request. The Sheriff's Office accepts such requests in accordance with the Washington State Public Records Act (Chapter 42.56 RCW). You can download the request form in PDF format from the Sheriff's site or use the county public records portal.

It's important to understand that the Web Jail Viewer portal only shows those currently in custody. To obtain historical data or records of individuals who have been released, a separate request must be submitted to the Sheriff's Office.

Search the Kitsap Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in Latin letters in the appropriate field. Adding the first name narrows the results — this is useful for common last names like Smith or Johnson. A few tips:

  • Check spelling: even one letter error can lead to an empty result.
  • If the system does not support partial search, try using the browser's "Find on page" function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) when viewing the full list.
  • Consider possible spelling variations: hyphenated, with an apostrophe, etc.

By Booking Number

This method provides an exact result — one record. The booking number is usually given to relatives during the first contact with the detainee or when contacting the jail by phone.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of a record does not always mean the person is free. Possible reasons:

  1. The booking process is not yet complete — there is a time gap between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record on the portal.
  2. The person has already been released, and the record has been removed from the active roster.
  3. The person has been transferred to another facility — for example, to a Washington State correctional facility.
  4. The name was entered incorrectly or under a different spelling variation.

In any of these cases, call the jail at 360-337-7108 for clarification.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Kitsap

The Web Jail Viewer roster is updated throughout the day, but this does not happen instantly. There is usually a time gap of several minutes to several hours between the physical delivery of the detainee to the jail and the appearance of their data on the portal — depending on staff workload and time of day.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Registration delay. If the arrest occurred late at night or on a weekend, the record may appear only the next morning.
  • Removal after release. Once a person is released — on bail, by court decision, or after serving a term — their card is removed from the active roster. The portal is not an archive.
  • Data entry errors. Rarely, but typographical errors in the last name or date of birth occur, which may cause the search to fail.
  • Transfer. If an inmate is transferred to a state Department of Corrections facility, the record disappears from the county roster.

The roster reflects only the current custody status. It does not replace a full criminal history. To check for convictions, contact the Washington State Patrol WATCH system, which provides access to statewide conviction data.

If you need to check for an arrest warrant, the county prosecutor's page explains how to do this through the court or an attorney. The jail roster itself does not contain warrant information.
